Hi, my name's Petrana and I've never been normal about anything I love in my life.
In more resume-friendly terms: I'm a writer with almost a decade of experience covering entertainment. I specialize in writing about animation, online fandom, and YA adaptations — but I voraciously read, watch, and play all genres of TV, movies, books, and games. I have a new fictional crush every other week. I'm a sucker for any story that uses the paranormal as a metaphor for coming-of-age and romances where the male lead is a little bit pathetic.
On that note, I'm revising a YA sci-fi novel about alien abductions in a small desert town and writing the first draft of a contemporary romance where the male lead is ... well, I'll let you figure that out.
I'm a proud alum of Tin House's Spring 2025 YA Workshop, which had the best karaoke crowd of any Tin House Workshop (this is a fact). I've had my writing featured in The Psychgeist of Pop Culture and have been an expert guests on multiple podcasts, including Business Wars and Buzzfeed Daily. Once, award-winning poet Richard Siken tweeted a story I wrote about his fanfiction preferences.
